Telecom Egypt Enters FTSE Russell Emerging Markets Index Following Mid-Cap Upgrade
Telecom Egypt announced its inclusion in the FTSE Emerging Markets Index following its upgrade within the FTSE Global Equity Index Series (GEIS) from the Small Cap to the Mid Cap segment, as part of the index provider’s semi-annual review for September 2026 for the Middle East and Africa region.
This milestone confirms that Telecom Egypt has met all eligibility criteria to join this segment. Driven by the stock reaching new highs, the Company’s market capitalization rose to approximately USD 3.9 billion—clearing the minimum threshold required for Mid Cap inclusion by a wide margin.
The transition clearly reflects improved liquidity, stronger cash flows, and robust financial and operational performance. It stands as a direct result of the Company’s strategy to accelerate cash generation and maintain disciplined financial management through the efficient utilization of resources and capital allocation toward high-return opportunities.
Furthermore, moving into the Mid Cap segment strengthens Telecom Egypt’s appeal as an investment opportunity, enabling it to leverage inflows from index-tracking international funds. This change may supports trading volumes Company’s visibility and credibility among global institutional investors.
This advancement also elevates the standing of the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) within the global capital markets landscape. The FTSE Russell emerging markets Index currently includes only three Egyptian companies, including Telecom Egypt. Inclusion is subject to a strict set of requirements, including market capitalization, liquidity, trading volumes, and free-float standards.
