Telecom Egypt and Huawei announce the launch of the first Huawei CDN PoP in Egypt

02 March 2022
Telecom Egypt, Egypt’s first integrated telecom operator and one of the largest subsea cable operators in the region, and Huawei, a leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices, announced the building of Huawei’s CDN PoP in Egypt within Telecom Egypt’s new international data center in Smart Village, Cairo.

This strategic cooperation will allow Huawei to deploy the most advanced state-of-the-art edge cloud CDN node resources and leverage its high bandwidth and wide coverage to support quick responses to more intelligent applications in the AI era. This will provide high-quality edge cloud CDN node services, which are widely used in industries such as video production, gaming, e-commerce, finance, healthcare, and government-related activities. The new CDN PoPs will be hosted within Telecom Egypt’s new Uptime Tier 3 Certified data center in Smart Village, Cairo.

The new data center is well connected to all the 10 Mediterranean and Red Sea subsea landing stations, giving it access to more than 60 countries around the globe, in addition to an open access model for the local Egyptian market in its entirety, including retail and enterprise customers.

Telecom Egypt’s new state-of-the-art data center is characterized by enhanced colocation services and higher levels of redundancy with the ability to expand to accommodate growing colocation needs. This will further contribute to the development of sustainability features that mitigate rising costs of energy and are closely aligned with international standards. The facility’s capabilities target organizations that value premium data center services and consider risk management and lower latency as benchmarks when it comes to selecting data centers. This facility can house up to 2,000 racks over a 4 Colo Modular Facilities Campus.
